POTENTIAL CURRICULUM FIT

School-based clubs will have the chance to use various 4-H activities and skills to enhance a range of subject areas and assist with meeting curricular outcomes. The following examples listed by subject area then 4-H activity/skill demonstrate this potential:

English Language Arts

  • communication activity (speeches or presentations) that are researched, written and presented orally by each member or group
  • group discussions
  • completion of project and record books
  • teamwork, problem solving
  • Achievement Day (members create displays to represent their year, honors members accomplishments)

Social Studies

  • communication activity (as above)
  • participation on executive and at club meetings (elections, democratic process, parliamentary procedure, etc)
  • decision making, problem solving
  • leadership and teamwork
  • citizenship and community service

Science

  • communication activity (as above)
  • project work-depending on chosen project (i.e.: environment)
  • record keeping

Mathematics
