Program Description: WELCOME to the 27th Annual West Central Regional 4-H Light Horse Show. This is a fun show that allows you another opportunity to compete with your 4-H project. We hope you will take the time to meet new friends and get reacquainted with old ones. Good sportsmanship, horsemanship, honesty, and having fun is what you need for a great show! This is just a summary of the rules related to the running of the show, but please make sure you read them so you are informed of changes and of the existing rules. See your Leader for a complete set of the show rules.

This years show committee consists of:
Chairman:
Vice-Chairman:
Ruth Maciborski – Winfield Gait Riders
Secretary: Lori Fairbrother, Ponoka Renegade Riders
Treasurer: Debi Jensen Blindman Lighthorse
Show Secretary: Lori Stuart – Noble Riders
4-H Regional Specialist: Janet Kerr – Stettler

Before You Come to the Show: (see below for more information that you need to know)
  1. The facility we are using is a multi-purpose facility and we are not the only event happening. This is not a training show. There will be many distractions around the areas where your horse will be, such as tractors, vehicles, golf carts, ATV’s, large crowds and other horses. Your horse should be familiar with the show atmosphere and all these things. For yours and others safety, do not bring a horse that is not familiar with this kind of atmosphere.
  2. Please make sure you have checked with your club Leader regarding the classes you are entering and if your tack is legal. The classes you enter must all be at the same level and must be the one you are working on or the one you just passed. You cannot go down in levels from the previous year.
  3. You should be familiar with our rulebook before you come to the show. We have made many revisions this year, so, please ask your leader for a copy of the complete rules if you do not have one. Bring your patience, understanding and cooperation. Be prepared to volunteer for any needed jobs. Above all: Remember the show is run by volunteers who have put in many, many hours to make this show run smoothly and to make it a memorable experience for all the members competing.
  4. If you do happen to have any legitimate concerns or grievances please bring them, in writing, to the show office with a $50 deposit that will be returned if the grievance committee is in agreement with your concern.
  5. You are welcome and encouraged to come to the show and cheer on and support your fellow members if you are not competing.
Entry Form Rules (see below for complete rules)

ENTRY FORMS:
1.       Please submit your entries to your 4-H leader along with your cheque made out to your own club. Your leader will check your entry and send it to the show committee. Remember to get it to your club leaders only.
2.       Entry deadline is April 27, 2010. Absolutely no late entries accepted. Post entries allowed in matched pairs, delsey derby, judging and adult class.
3.       Please submit all entry forms from one club together. Each 4-H leader is responsible to check for correct classes and age categories. Please submit one cheque per club. Bring entries to regional show meeting on April 27th or send postmarked by April 17th to Lori Stuart.

4.       4-H member’s age is their age on Dec 31/2009.
5.       Stalling will be available for a maximum of only TWO horses per member. Extra stalls will only be provided if available. Tack Stalls will be available if room allows. Please do not reserve extra stalls.
6.       Your project horse identification must be submitted with your entry forms to the show committee by the entry deadline if your club has not already sent them to the Regional office. If you do not have a copy of the form please ask your 4-H leader or get one from the 4H web site.
7.       Horses’ age is calculated by their age in 2010. Example: If your horse was born June 15, 2007, for this show he is calculated to be Three years old. You do not calculate according to his real birthday. Junior horse is classified junior if he is 5 years or under in 2010. Example: If your horse was four years or under last year you are still eligible to enter in junior horse this year.
8.       A senior horse is 6 years or older in 2010 and must be ridden in a curb bit with a shank if you are competing in levels 4-7.
9.       No cross entering between junior and senior western horse classes.
10.   The horse committee strongly recommends that all horses be up to date on their shots. This is for your horse’s protection as well as others.
11.   Entry fees will be refunded with a veterinary or medical certificate only.
12.   If your horse comes up lame at the show and you have a replacement you would like to use, you may do so on the approval of three regional show executive members. If a horse is deemed medically unfit after entries have been submitted, a vet certificate is required to replace the horse. Any replacement horses must be of similar ability and a new horse ID form must be submitted.
13.   Many revisions have been made to the show rules. Please take the time to read the updated West Central 4-H Horse Show Rulebook that your leaders should have provided you with. It will address all your concerns re tack and requirements for each class. Leaders should be checking all tack for club members attending to confirm that they have the correct tack before getting to the show.
