Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development - 4-H Summer Staff Opportunties

Navigate the 4-h Website with Cleaver - JanuaryDuring the Summer of 2010, 4-H requires the service of a Summer Staff to assist with the development and administration of a wide variety of programs and services.  Under the supervision and guidance of professional staff, self-motivated individuals will apply skills while gaining knowledge and experience.

Mandatory requirements include

  • Completion of one year post secondary education
  • Must satisfy the 4-H Screening Process including a criminal records check and submission of driver's abstract.
  • Mandatory for the Summer Program Assistant/Project Coordinator positions – Standard First Aid certification
  • Mandatory for the Lifeguard positions - NLS certification

Desirable

  • Prior 4-H experience
  • Two years post secondary education
  • Class 4 Driver’s License
  •  Position related certification (canoeing, archery, etc.), environmental training, previous camp involvement and leadership/facilitation experience – for some positions

Wage range: $14.00 – 18.00 per hour depending on education level and 4-H work experience. 4-H wage rates are currently under review. 

Employment period approximately May 1 to August 31, 2010 (varies with position) and may terminate at any time prior to the end of this term due to budget or operational requirements of the department.  All positions require staff to work some evenings and weekends.

Provincial 4-H Summer Program Assistant (Lifeguard and Non-lifeguard)
(Airdrie: May 1-August 31) 4 to 6 positions
(one or two positions may be offered June 28 – August 31)

Provincial 4-H Summer Program Project Coordinator
(Airdrie: May 1 – August 31) 1 to 2 positions

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of Foundation programs and assist summer staff team with the delivery of various week-long provincial 4-H member programs. May require individuals to work at various program sites throughout Alberta.

(Airdrie, Barrhead/Fairview and Vermilion/Stettler) 3 positions (one for each location)

  • Assist with regional summer programs and provincial livestock events.  These positions will work closely with the 4-H Specialist responsible for these events to plan and implement a variety of activities.
