Program Description: The Calgary Stampede, known as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, is a 10-day western festival that takes place during the month of July each year. The Calgary Stampede presents spectacular cultural exhibits, midway, agricultural programming, rodeo, chuckwagon racing and an evening show.
For many years, the Calgary Stampede and Alberta 4-H have partnered to showcase Alberta’s youth and thriving agriculture industry, through 4-H on Parade, 4-H Rodeo, 4-H Camp Awards and Regional/Provincial Communications. New to 2010 is an opportunity for this relationship to grow with the Youth and Agriculture in Action Showcase. During the Calgary Stampede an area of the Agriculture Building will be transformed into an engaging and energetic 4-H Showcase.
The Calgary Stampede would like to invite 4-H Districts, Clubs, and/or individual 4-H members to participate or display their various 4-H projects.
We are currently accepting participants for the following dates:
Option A - Tuesday, July 13 and Wednesday, July 14
Option B - Thursday, July 15 and Friday, July 16
Option C - Saturday, July 17 and Sunday, July 18
Each participant will be provided with a Calgary Stampede exhibitor pass (access to the grandstand rush areas for the rodeo, chuckwagon races, and evening show) and well as access to our exhibitor parking lot and agriculture exhibitor shuttle for the duration of their participation.
Together we can engage 1.2 million guests of the Calgary Stampede into the world of agriculture through the eyes of today’s youth. For our guests, the 4-H showcase offers the chance to see and learn about 4-H and their projects ranging from business to photography, and various livestock to web design. We are also excited to have Alberta 4-H Ambassadors join us for these days.
We realize this is also a great opportunity for 4-H clubs to use this as a recruitment tool. This opportunity also covers the Community Outreach component of the 4-H Diary.
Come share in this great opportunity to showcase Youth and Agriculture in Action.
