Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development invites the 4-H community to submit nominees for the Alberta 4-H Hall of Fame. The 4-H Hall of Fame honours Albertans who have made outstanding contributions to the 4-H program in this province. Albertans who have demonstrated significant initiative, leadership and a positive impact on 4-H will be chosen to join the other men and women who have been honored since the award was initiated in 1971. A nominee should have impact and achievements at the local, district, regional and provincial level.
Nominees may have served the 4-H program as volunteers or professionals. Their responsibilities and impact on 4-H as well as involvement in other community organizations and activities will,be taken into consideration. Albertans chosen for induction into the Alberta 4-H Hall of Fame will be honoured at a banquet and ceremony in January during the annual Alberta 4-H Leaders conference. A maximum of two inductees will be honoured in a specific year.
A selection committee, made up of 4-H staff, Alberta 4-H Council members, and 4-H Foundation Directors will make a recommendation to the 4-H Branch head who will forward the choices to senior department officials. The Minister responsible for 4-H will make the official announcement during National 4-H month (November).
Groups or individuals are invited to submit nominations up to July 15 of the current year. Under no circumstances will late applications be accepted. Application forms are available from any 4-H staff member or can be downloaded from the 4-H website.
