3rd Annual Knowledge College on Saturday, Nov 23

The NW 4-H Knowledge College is for any leader, volunteer, or parent in the Northwest Region. There are sessions for senior members as well.  Each club in the region is encouraged to send at least one adult, however there is no limit to the number of people who can attend.



9:00 – 9:30 am        Registration & Coffee

9:30 – 10:00 am      Whole Group Welcome, Introductions, Updates, Group Photo

10:00 – 11:45 am   Select-a-session 1

11:45 – 12:45 pm   Lunch

12:45 – 2:00 pm     Select-a-session 2

2:00 – 3:15 pm        Select-a-session 3

Entry deadline is November 5, 2019.


Entries can be made as a club (one form per club). Forms can be scanned and emailed to; or mailed to:

The fee for each member and adult attending is $25. This includes lunch.  No ticket = no lunch.

Payment can be made as a club by cheque or e-transfer, or individually via e-transfer.

E-transfer notifications can be sent to

  • The security question should be “Who is the 4-H Mascot?” Answer: “Cleaver”
  • The message should include names of all those you are paying for, and the name of the program.

SCHEDULE (subject to change)

10:00 – 11:45 am - Select-a-session 1

  1. Helping your leader – Help with club reorganization, planning events such as communications or workshops.  Help with year-end award orders and celebration planning. What can you do to share the workload? (adults)
  2. Helping your member achieve – Do you know what their requirements are?  This will include how to help your child when they are elected to an executive position in your club. (adults)
  3. Diaries and Awards of Excellence – What are they? Why do we need to complete them? What goes where? What are the Awards of Excellence and how do members get them? (adults & seniors)

12:45- 2:00 pm – Select-a-session 2

  1. Beyond the club – as a parent are you aware of district, regional, provincial council.  What do they do?  How can they help you?  Where can you get information? (adults)
  2. Projects – 4-H has over 40 project options.  We’ll talk about a few of the less known and/or subscribed to ones that are being done in the region. Eg. Pheasant Archery Exchanges Provincial carcass project National Science Fair (adults & seniors)
  3. Money! Money! Money! – Do you understand budgeting and how it can help you keep more money in your club’s account, or your personal pocket?  Do you understand interest? Plastic vs Cash vs Cheques?  Come learn from a recent alumnus. (seniors and adults)

12:45 – 3:00 pm (approx. 3 hrs) – Select-a-session 2&3

  1. Leader Level 2 - You do not need to have Level 1 to take this session. You can take this as a parent as well. Come learn about shared leadership, learning styles, planning for your club, club assessment, and opportunities in 4-H.   (adults)

2:00 – 3:15 pm – Select-a-session 3

  1. Technology and 4-H - Computers overwhelm you? 4-H is using more technology all the time. How does the regional office share information with committees and clubs?  How to use, edit and work with Google Docs and Sheets; using the 4-H database and website; using technology for your club and district….What are your questions?
  2. Committees – So your district is going to host a regional event – how do you apply to the 4-H region for funding, keep track of costs, etc. What are your responsibilities? What can the regional office and regional council do to help?
  3. Future of 4-H in the region - We would love to have an open discussion with you about planning events in our region.  What would you like to see?  What can we do to help your continuation in the 4-H program?  (Seniors Only)
