4-H Canada - Hands to Larger Service

Deadline: December 29, 2019 4:00 PM
Location: across Alberta

Program Description:

Next summer, Youth Service Leaders will be travelling across Canada to lead and promote community engagement, volunteerism and service, and to help create a culture of service for Canadian youth.

Youth Service Leaders (YSLs) will be ambassadors for 4-H service and community engagement. They will be selected through an application process and be trained in service learning. YSLs will be matched with Club to Club Exchange groups and will help plan, coordinate and lead service-learning projects in partnership with exchange groups and the communities where projects are taking place.

Every day, 4-H members across Canada take the 4-H Pledge in which they commit to positively contributing to their communities and the world around them. This pledge includes the promise of using their Hands to Larger Service, which they do across Canada in the true spirit of 4-H Canada’s motto: Learn To Do By Doing.

Hands to Larger Service is funded through the Canada Service Corps by the Government of Canada. 4-H Canada will select and train 26 Youth Service Leaders (ages 18 to 25) to co-create community-focused service projects across Canada in summer 2020, in partnership with other youth as part of the 4-H Club to Club Exchange program. 4-H Canada is one of ten national partners who form the Canada Service Corps.

This is an exciting opportunity for 4-H youth to demonstrate their leadership skills and commitment to community engagement!
