Location: Barrhead Elementary School BARRHEAD AB

Program Description:

April 18

Barrhead Elementary School

Every day we make decisions about what to eat, wear, listen to and many many more things. Consumer Decision making helps 4-H members learn about some of the points to consider when purchasing every day consumer items.  After making the decisions members will be given the opportunity to defend them.

Every day people make countless decisions, requiring good evaluation skills.  What to eat? What to wear? What picture to post on Instagram? Where to live? The process used to make decisions is what 4-H judging is all about. Members can compete or participate in workshops. Adults are required to assist the committee in making the day a success. (Minimum of 1 adult for every 4 members) Clubs are asked to provide 2 door prizes (suggested $10-$15 each).

Become a better, more efficient decision maker by keenly observing, analyzing and comparing the class. Giving oral reasons on some classes will test member’s memory and improve their communication skills.

The annual Northwest 4-H Regional Judging Day is open to all Junior, Intermediate, and Senior 4-H members. There is NO Cleaver Kid programming.

The morning, at Barrhead Elementary School, is all about Consumer Decision Making and the afternoon, at the Barrhead AgBarn, is all about Multi-species Livestock Judging. Members can register in one or both of the competitions or workshops, or one of each. Senior members may qualify to represent the Northwest Region at this year’s 4-H Alberta Multi-Species Livestock Judging Competition.

Clubs must register a minimum of 1 adult for every 4 members. Adults are necessary to assist throughout the day with various tasks.
